* THE JOURNEY ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS 2018 PROGRAM *
JAPA WELCOME FROM THE DIRECTOR - KLARK HARVY
A huge welcome to all newcomers to Dance, and to students still participating with JAPA, all who are growing and learning and PERFORMING! well done to everyone!
One thing i need to make clear again to all students - JAPA IS NOT VIRTUOSO!
These are two separate entities, both established on the same sim with the same founder and Director, but with two different purposes for the entertainment world of SL.
VIRTUOSO is a Performing Arts Group - presenting shows throughout the year, membership by Director invite only.
JAPA is an Educational Group for the Performing Arts - purely a learning environment. Open to anyone who wishes to join and register for classes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JAPA has now almost completed its first term for 2018, with some very positive and successful outcomes for many students!
The new SIM , now called VIRTUOSO! is still under construction in parts, but it is all taking shape and JAPA is up and running now, with a new build for the Academy base, and class areas being set up accordingly.
We will have a whole separate area for teaching the Spot On Tools, set up and ready to go in the near future! All exciting stuff!
There are a few new staff members too, here is the current active JAPA staff list;
Klark Harvy - JAPA Principal / Director / Tutor / Estate Manager/ VIRTUOSO Director
DelaneyJenson - JAPA Tutor / Cleaner / Tea Lady / Estate Manager / The Spot On Oracle : )
Joy Canadeo - JAPA Music Technician / Estate Manager
Rosewan - JAPA Administration & Registrations Manager
Anyone who wishes to deliver classes as a JAPA Tutor, please submit your subject(s) and send me a working lesson plan. If what you can deliver are useful and well planned topics, you will be appointed as a JAPA Tutor, and your subjects added to the curriculum.
Also anyone who has skills they think would help the development of JAPA, please contact me personally.
I teach things that I have learned through my own discovery in this virtual world, bringing some real life skills and experience, and adapting things, breaking them down for simple and effective learning sessions available to anyone wishing to become a performer in Second Life.
Take from these learning sessions what works for you, and build on it. There is not only ONE way!
I, personally, choose not to use the complete package of Spot On tools, purely because what I do use has, and does work great for what I do, simple tools that do exactly what they say on the box, easy to set up and operate, and are perfect for newcomers to get them started, and also still used by higher level performers.
Spot On do have fabulous tools, and can open up amazing creative things for a performer, so progress to these if you feel they will help you grow your own style in dance, but my best advice to anyone beginning in Dance, before experimenting with all the available tools, is to get yourself a real good grounding in CHOREOGRAPHY FIRST, and don't try to run before you can walk. Use the best tools appropriate for the kind of dance you want to create. They all have their positives for general and specific use.
All is good ! - Discover the tools that work best for YOU!
JAPA will now be running classes, workshops and personal tutorials in all the Spot On Tools.
I will continue to teach JAPA sessions for newcomers, based on simple movers and systems to gain a good Foundation in Dance. These can, and do, work from Novice to Advanced Level Performers
