Amazon Dancers

 

It is with great pleasure that we present show Saltimbancos with Amazon Dancers!

This year, we are celebrating the 9th anniversary of Amazon Rainforest, and 7th anniversary of the group Amazon Dancers!

Saltimbancos narrates the adventures of four animals that, feeling exploited by their owners, decide to flee to the city and try their luck as musicians.

The musical fable was translated and adapted into Portuguese by Chico Buarque de Hollanda, from the play by Sergio Bardotti and Luis Enríquez Bacalov, who in turn had adapted the short story “The Musicians of Bremen”, by the brothers Grimm, as a political allegory, in which the Hen would represent the working class; o Donkey: field workers; the Dog, the military and Cat, the artists. . The baron, an enemy of animals, would be the personification of the elite, or the "holders of the means of production".

The show lasts about 60 minutes and has 7 acts.

Erin Gobraghless logged out of Second Life on the 26th September 2018 for the very last time. 

Erin was the most beautiful, friendly, caring and loving person care to meet. She never had a bad word for anybody. One of the original dancers in Debauche line up, she's sadly missed and was a very special lady.

Guerilla Burlesque

It is our pleasure to announce the annual return of the "Strip Like a Pirate" show at the Immersive Theater. This show uses SL's experience system to choreograph the lighting, weather, views of the action, and other visual effects in a wrap-around scene where the audience is part of the environment.

Brandee Snoodle directs this show in celebration of the soon-to-arrive  International Talk Like a Pirate Day. You will see choreographed, spirited and creative PG13 dance performances set to a pirate-themed soundtrack of both original and hard-to-find covers that will have you skipping around for days.

The show takes place in a custom built pirate cove build only for us. You will sit along the boardwalks and rope bridges and become part of the scene. Come as you are or in pirate-themed attire, and please arrive 1 hour before the show (ie, plan to arrive at 7pm) to claim your seat and settle in with us.

It’s unbelievable how many ways the choreographers and dancers of the SLDC found to say "Screw This!" to shocking news casts, medical reports, International & local politics, fake news and general upheaval all over the world. They pulled out a Bucket list full of meaningful scenes to make you feel good. Dance numbers with titles like:  “Elements,” “Here to Love,” “Just The Two of Us,” “Gummy Bears,” “Oil Paintings,” “Warriors,” “She Dances,” “Desert Rain,” “Paris,” “Unstoppable,” “Million Voices,” and “Head Held High.” In addition, our golden-voiced announcer/narrator, Mikey, will present an original inspirational message.  

SLDC is a Second-Life dance company that brings together the artistic potential of virtual-world technology and the full range of choreographic styles.  The result often leaves audience members with an irrepressible desire to tap their feet . . . and even get up and dance.  All dances are performed live in real time by the performers.  The SLDC is a company comprised solely of volunteers, including the choreographers, the set designers, the back-office personnel and, of course, the dancers.  

Come spend some relaxing time with us on Sunday, September 17th  at the Theater of Light. Performance time is 11am slt, but seating is limited and fills fast. Come early to get a seat and to start tapping your toes!

Doctors Without Borders is an international humanitarian medical non-governmental organisation (NGO) of French origin best known for its projects in conflict zones and in countries affected by endemic diseases.  Every day, Doctors Without Borders teams deliver emergency medical aid to people in crisis, with humanitarian projects in more than 70 countries.  Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) offers medical humanitarian assistance to people based solely on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender, or political affiliation.

Calling All Dawgs!

This Friday, it is Elysium’s monthly theme show.  And this theme is very special: Pussycats!  We have a venue of kitties who need loving homes.  Some may be a bit feral and require loving discipline and guidance.  We have all manner of stray cats strutting, alley cats looking for fights, faster pussycats, deliberately slow phat cats, and ruthless wild huntresses.  Let the dawgs out!  There is a pussycat for everyone, Friday at 6pm SLT.  It sounds exciting, and it will be!  Might be hella naughty.  Come take an imaginative journey of music and dance.  We are very excited to invite you to another amazing show, featuring some of the most talented creators of virtual dance on the grid.  Come and see what stories our choreographers have to dance for you this week.  Take the journey with us… come for the music and dance, stay for the friendship, smiles and laughter.  Join us to be danced on stage for our finale and stay for the after party with open dancing to your requests.  Welcome to the weekend!
