Please Remove All Unneeded Scripts!. Thank you.

If running scripts are a real concern at performances, then why not disable them for everyone except the staff group who needs to perform on stage? Might it help improve show quality?

So I had the discussion and of course the discomfort to those with non-viewer-embedded AOs came to light. I could be wrong but I think it prevents the running of new scripts. If you arrive already running an AO, you are good, unless you stop it. But what do I know. I get all my knowledge from reading the tabloids. Ask me about the Kardashians. Anything.

So what other reasons are worthy of mention as to why this is not an idea worthy of consideration? Do any venues disable scripts now?

Yes when its time to free-dance, people can't use their dance huds. Could you flip it back on at the end of the show, and inconvenience people who want to use their own personal dances huds to tp out and back in?

If I am missing something obvious, which is so often the case, then I will crawl away red-faced.

Yummy

BE SURE TO KEEP YOUR CAMERA FOCUS TO THE FRONT OF THE STAGE.  CTRL, ALT, THEN CLICK THAT SQUARE THE MOUSE GIVES YOU ON THE UNLEASHED LADIES AND D.  NOT PERSON BECAUSE IT WILL MESS UP THE SYNC OF ALL TEAM MEMBERS, I AM SUGGESTING THE GOLD SQUARE IN THE FRONT OF THE DRAPES.  ONCE YOU HAVE CLICKED IT.  ADJUST YOUR CAMERA UP OR WHICHEVER WAY YOU NEED TO MAKE IT STRAIGHT.  ONCE YOU GET THIS VIEW, DO NOT TOUCH YOUR CAMERA AGAIN.  THIS WILL KEEP ALL PERFORMANCES SYNC AS WELL AS GIVE YOU A FRONT ROW SEAT.

HEADS UP; IF YOU SEE NAMES OF THE TEAM MEMBERS OR EVEN THE AUDIENCE OVER THEIR HEADS AND IT IS CLOUDING YOUR VIEW, I AM SUGGESTING THAT YOU, GO TO YOUR PREFERENCE IN YOUR VIEWER, THEN IN THE GENERAL TAB FOR SHOW NAMES PUT NEVER, TILL AFTER THE SHOW, THAT WAY THE WORDS ARE NOT FLOATING ON ANYONES HEAD.

IDLE ROGUE PRODUCTIONS presents MAYFAIR - The Stories of the Mayfair Witches

IDLE ROGUE PRODUCTIONS
presents
MAYFAIR - The Stories of the Mayfair Witches
based on characters from the novel "The Witching Hour", by Anne Rice

Brought to you by the team behind "Guerilla Burlesque" and "Le Cirque de Nuit", "Mayfair" tells the stories of a dynasty of powerful witches ...  and the demon who caters to their every whim.

The setting is a garden party at the old Mayfair mansion on First Avenue in the Garden District of New Orleans. The notorious are-they-or-aren't-they family has always drawn it's fair share of speculation, with wild tales of a purse full of coins that never runs out, and a mysterious man whom only some can see.

But the Mayfair witches have endured shattering tragedies along with their immense power. What does the comely Lasher want from them? And is any witch strong enough to control him?

Join us in the gardens of the Mayfair mansion. It's the most beautiful hour of the evening, and the soft deep sky is dimming to twilight. Surrounded by friends old and new,
the legends unfold before your eyes ...

Performances
January 21 at 7pm
January 22 at 7pm
January 23 at 7pm
January 24 at 2pm and 7pm
January 25 at 5pm

Reserved Seating
To maximise sim performance, seating for this event will be strictly limited to 40 audience members, with a total of 240 unique seats across 6 performances.
Seating can be reserved by members of the inworld group "Guerilla Burlesque Exclusive". Strict conditions will apply, please contact Franney for further details.

Membership to Guerilla Burlesque Exclusive costs $1000L.

Performance enhancement:
Dance entertainment uses a large portion of a sim's resources, and Idle Rogue Productions strive to give you the best entertainment experience. We want you to enjoy your visit with us, and will not harass you to modify your avatar or observe script limits to stay on the sim. However there are several things you can personally do to gain more enjoyment from the show,
and to assist our performance

:: Arrive early, and allow your computer processor time to cache the environment and the animations
:: Switch off or preferably remove scripted items to free up resources we need for special effects. Check items like jewellery and hair for weighty scripts. An assessment tool will be available at the landing point on the Idle Rogue sim, we encourage you to use it, but we promise we will never hassle you about normal avatars
:: Remove facelights and particle effects to enjoy those we have planned as part of the production
:: Switch off nametags
:: "Mayfair" employs Arrehn Oberlander's scripted camera technology to help you see the important parts of the show. You must be seated with your camera in the default position to utilise this technology
:: Your host Franny Glass can help you with these ideas when you book. Please ask for an appointment to choose seating and go over best practice if this would be useful you.

Bad

Well well....I got attacked by, a computer virus? Well its not the official word for it. Malware? Maybe. Ransomware? No. That's what I got hit with last year.

Viruses, Worms, Trojans, Rootkits, Dialers, Zero-Day Malware and Spyware. So many ways they can make you have a 'bad day'.

I was getting annoying ad pop-ups. Spurious links embedded in blogs and other places. AnnoyWare I will call it.  I have to click the X to close them. And when I do that some poor (well probably rich) unsuspecting vendor is charged more for false-clicks that is ethical. So in my research I found out that you can get it from blogs (there latest entry point), and many popular sites one of which I was shocked at. weather.com. Can't even check the weather innocently. WTF? Is nothing sacred?

When I get a new computer and it comes with McAfee , an anti-virus package. So we are forced to have that with the hopes we will upgrade to a paid subscription after the 1st free year.

So I run full scans using McAfee...runs perfect. No threats detected. Run Windows Defender. Same thing. No problems found. I was all ready to re-install Windows after I was unable to solve the issue myself...when I thought...who has the best record against these types of attacks. Malwarebytes. It's almost always helped me in the past. So being so annoyed, I bypassed their FREE version and opted for their PREMIUM version. About 25 USD a year. I realized the time I would find myself spending being annoyed as well as trying to solve the next attack. Figured it was worth the piece of mind. Sort of like paying 'protection money' to a mob but it beats the alternative. The other mob.

Well long story short...Malwarebytes went right to work...found almost 1700 malicious files that it quarantined. The problem was fixed. I could browse the web again without annoying unwanted intrusive malware ad popups. Worth the price of admission.

Whatever had infiltrated my computer also started messing with my sound, both in and out of SL.  Since it was in SL...and since....someone else also confirmed that members of their family were attacked by this same WowCoupon malware, I felt it relative to blog about. Maybe there are others out there at a loss as to where to turn? What to do? One can feel vulnerable, helpless, frustrated, at-a-loss even angry.

I logged onto my un-infected laptop in order to make the actual purchase Malwarebytes purchase cause the devils try to trick you when you try to buy the protection. Sheesh! There is also and informative site called Malwaretips.org

I just read where they arrested one of the hackers in the UK as part of a consortium using Denial-Of-Service attacks on the XBOX & PlayStation online gaming sites during xmas.

Well I hope this can help any of you who have or may in the future find yourselves up the creek without a paddle.

Milky Way Cabaret Seeks Performers for RFL Fundraiser Event

Thank you for your interest in the Milky Way Cabaret and for our ultimate goal, fund-raising for the Relay For Life campaign.

We know, as a professional, that your time is extremely valuable and we wish to make this as efficient and as enjoyable as possible. Below you will find a brief questionnaire that will help us understand and prepare for your participation in the Milky Way Cabaret.

The Milky Way Cabaret is a dance/music variety show much like other shows on the grid such as Guerilla Burlesque, Club Image, Elysium, Winds of the Sahara, Lady Garden Cabaret, etc. just to name a few. The show differs somewhat in that it is performed several times over the course of the SL Science Fiction Convention (mainly to reach the widest possible audience). The audience for the most part is not composed of your typical burlesque/cabaret fans, but rather Sci Fi fans, geeks and roleplayers.  From our experience,  this will be their first exposure to cabaret style productions and we have had an overwhelmingly positive reaction from most. Another key difference you should be aware of is that, this is a charity event and as such all proceeds and donations will go directly to official Relay for life kiosks. As a general rule, no staff, crew, or performer will be compensated for their participation. However, the organizers have agreed to help bear the cost of putting on this show and this extends to assisting guest performers with reasonable costs.

As of now, we are scheduled to perform six shows over the course of the convention; (all times in SLT)

1 pm Saturday, February 21
6 pm Saturday, February 21
6 pm Sunday, February 22
1 pm Saturday, February 28
6 pm Saturday, February 28
8 pm Sunday, March 1

We are also open to one or two midweek performances if we have the cast and crew to support it.

The theme is generally SciFi which by broad definition, includes; Steampunk, Dieselpunk, Gor (PG-13 only), post-apocalyptic, superheros and villains, and even some fantasy genres.  We would like to stay within these genres where possible but we are open to any burlesque/cabaret performance as long as it is subtable for a general audience (no nudity, overtly sexual, graphically violent, or culturally/religiously/socially intolerant themes).

We know many of you have a backlog of SciFi and related past performances. We welcome these as well as new creations if you are so inclined.

Here is what we need from you.

1) - Name of your act and brief description

2) - Song title

3) - Solo or group (if group, will you require dancers from our cast or provide your own)

4) - Dates you are available to perform

5) - Dimensions of your set

6) - any special requirements of the venue (such as use of Arrehn Oberlander's stage rezzer or camera system)

Please drop NCs to Imrhien Fargis, any questions please IM her.

Thank you!!

The Kit Kat Club - New Troupe Seeking Dancers

The Kit Kat Club and Cabaret
     •´¯¥¯`• Ⓑ Ⓤ Ⓡ Ⓛ Ⓔ Ⓢ Ⓠ Ⓤ Ⓔ •´¯¥¯`•
     ***** AUDITION******
       ************************

Are you a Dancer who can Build?
Wanna have a reason to build more?
Are you a builder who wants to dance?
Or are you tired of stripping?
Do you have a good dance system?

Then you should come and audition to join the Kit Kat Team!

This will be a once monthly event where you get to be the center of attention!!

****We are looking for Dancers and an MC who can commit to one day a month.*****

What we will be expecting at the Audition:

1. A set.
Yes an actual set. It can be anything you want. Please try to keep it to 300 prims or less and it should be NO BIGGER than the stage attached to this notice. Feel free to incorporate fades, rotates, any scripts, particles...go nuts.

****Being able to build a set or knowing someone who will build for you is important if you want to dance. We can help but we cannot build your whole set for you*****

IM Kismet Coy for a copy of the Kit Kat stage for you to build on.

2. A costume.
I know this seems obvious but I have seen things.....
The costume should suit the act.

3. You choose the song!
We require your song choice be cleared with us at least 24 hrs. before the Audition!
Please don't choose a song that is longer than 8 minutes. You can message Kismet Coy in world with the youtube link or email it as an attachment to Kismetxcoy@gmail.com

4. You must do a full act.
That means dancing, some emoting, stripping down to pasties and a g-string during one song. It's not as daunting as you think:)

We are a Burlesque Club which means Pasties and a thong...Your lady Garden must be covered as well as those nipples! Less trash, more sass and class!

We expect all those auditioning  to have a dance HUD or at least know how to use one. 4-6 dances are required.

5. Quality skin and clothes...
no freebies...well not freebies that look like freebies.

6. We will not be judging you publicly.

What do you get out of it?

1. Tips. Who doesn't like to earn Lindens?
2. Fun
3. Be part of something Unique!

*****The Auditions will be held on January 17th and 23rd 2015 at 330 SLT at the Kit Kat Club. This will be a closed audition which means you may have 1 person for moral support...Please leave the rest of the clan at home!

Everyone is welcome to come by and see the club!
http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bay%20Atoll/177/153/3806

Please Come in Costume and ready to dance:)

If you need a different time, Message Kismet or Levinah and we will see what we can do!

Just a disclaimer that needed explaining.
***We are looking for Dancers who can commit to at least one day a month. We are looking to keep permanent dancers. Should this become popular enough and we have the time it may be more than once a month. My goal is to see it happen once a week. Bearing that in mind, this is just like dancing for any other club. The house takes 10% of your tips on performance nights which we feel is fair since we are providing the venue and the patrons.

Good luck to everyone who auditions we can't wait to see what you can do!

Sincerely,

KIsmet Coy and Levinah Graywolf

ReExamining Priorities

Latest trend I've noticed? People reexamining priorities. Making drastic course-corrections. Heard it from at least half-a-dozen friends and acquaintances.

Tired of the old. Or the old has run its course. It goes both ways. People who are tired of what they are involved in and abandon it for idle-rest time...as well as...those who've been sitting on the sidelines...re-realizing that what they really yearn for is to become "involved" again.

So don't be surprised if you see sudden reversals of commitments from those you've grown to depend on as this contagion spreads. People looking for 'something more', 'something less' ..'the something else'...'return to RL, family, friends'...the greener grass...or just off some-wheres smoking grass.

"I'm mad as Hell and I'm not going to take this anymore" - Network

Wow! 2015 is turning out to be the year of the big change. It seems to be an "I've had enough of (this/your) **** and I'm not going to take it anymore" kind of year. All I hear and see from friends and friends-of-friends lately is: F-It actions that have been culminating for some time. Seems everyone has chosen to take decisive action at the same time. I think its in the water.  Crisis have reached a boiling point. Sores are festering. People have made private, personal, New-Years resolutions to take quick decisive action, and I'm not talking about the proverbial stop-smoking, lose-weight, kind.

Its a mad musical-chairs as people change: relationships, venues, looks, behaviours, past-times, employers, mates, pets in SL and RL.

A sea of change.

If you are a clueless or insensitive dis-respector, expect blow-back from the disrespected. If you are part of the dis-repected, this is your year.

Seems enough is enough.  A rising up of those who've been 'taking it' for so long...too long.

If you've made a change already in 2015 or have one planned that you've been thinking about, here's your chance to chime in if you feel the need to air it publicly. And it's ok to reply anonymously. It can be an action from being 'fed-up' to a less-dramatic, 'time-for-a-change-a-long-time-in-the-making' with no seed of targeted discontent.
