Hello everyone! Good evening!!!
It is our great pleasure and joy to welcome you to our Teatro Revista Show (in Brazil called Magazine Theater).
Performing "The Amazon Dancers“.
Magazine theater is a theatrical genre of popular taste that had its importance
in the history of the performing arts , both in Brazil and in Portugal,
until the middle of the nineteenth century, when it reached its peak.
Frequently their Thematic content was sensuality and social and political satire . Usually such a show was constituted of skits interspersed by musicals and dance.
Similar as in operettas or musicals, the magazine joins music, dance and dramatization on a central theme.
With different artistic aspects, Revista genre is kept until
nowadays especially by traditional variety theaters such as the Lido, the Moulin Rouge and the Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin, and also shows in Las Vegas .
In Brazil, the magazine theaters, are simply called "magazine", with production of theater companies such as those of Walter Pinto and Carlos Machado, which were responsible for making innumerable artistic talents famous, as: Carmen Miranda, her sister Aurora, and the vedettes (Show girls) or: Suzy King, Wilza Carla, Dercy Gonçalves, Elvira Pagã, Mara Rúbia, Luz del Fuego, Virginia Lane, Riva Keter, Sarita Santiel, Sonia Mamede and others.
Our Show lasts about 60 min and has 7 acts.
