A New Columnist for This Blog - Diawa Bellic 121223

We have enjoyed Yummy's articles and perspective on dance for over six months. I think it is very helpful for us all to hear different views on SL dancing. Now, Diawa Bellic has agreed also to write a column on dancing for the DANCE QUEENS blog. I am very pleased that she has decided to do this.

Many of you know Diawa for her hip-hop dancing, her burlesque performances, her support of the Barre HUD, her Freestyle dancing capabilities and her sometimes provocative way of doing things. One thing is for sure, Diawa always has an opinion.

Diawa will begin her column soon.

As with Yummy, Diawa has free reign to say what she thinks without my approval. I am sure some of the things she discusses and says I won't agree with, but that's what I want this blog to be ... an open forum for and about SL dancing.

If you want to contribute to the blog on a one-time basis or regularly, let me know. I only have two requirements. First, I have a low tolerance for demeaning a person for what they are, who they are or where they come from. Second, you need a thick skin. Even the safest of subjects can result in a challenging view. You can even write under a different name if you want.

Two New Venues Available for Shows

In the last couple of days both Chopsy Bode and Racheal Young have contacted me offering venues for shows. Chopsy added the Lady Garden Cabaret and Racheal added an abandoned church on her sim. I added both to the list of  Venues that Host Shows that can be found on the Dance Groups page in the upper right of the blog.

I visited Racheal's spot and here is a picture I took.

This is a new product that I have had an opportunity to test. It takes about 15 minutes to learn the set up system. After that I found it very easy to use. The system lets you design movements and position to give you easy control around a stage or club.

When used in conjunction with a dance HUD like the Barre or Huddles, you can set up sequences that not only determine the dance and timing but also position and movement. You simply put commands in your HUD sequences that announce in chat to activate the Spot-On. With the expected capability for managing multiple dancers doing different sequences in the upcoming Barre V4, this will give dancers and show producers a much easier way to manage a show. I suggest you get one and give it a try.

The Spot-On combined with a HUD does not give quite as much control as the DanceMaster Pro, but for most shows I think the Spot-On/HUD combination will be the management method of choice because of its ease of use, the fact that it's copyable and the use of a familiar HUD for dance control.

Not too many dance videos or photos in the last few days. Here is a short one called Flash Second Life by andcalatun.

voffvonuggle gives us 30 minutes plus of hardstyle dancing with the same camera angle in Dancing to Hardstyle/bass in Second Life (12-14-12).

Duda Giano gives us a version of dancing (sometimes naked) in Sexy Life - Second Life'. I do like the overlay of video on photos.

Annomis DeVaux gives us her Ice skating with Mara at Christmas Town in Second Life. You have to be careful skating with Annomis since I see quite few skates to the head. Anyway it's a holiday skating animation.

Eight girls dancing on ice in bikinis can't be too bad and it isn't in maialyre's Secondlife - Bikini on Ice @ Liquid Ice.
