Spirit Light Dance Company Presents "Phoenix Rising"
The Spirit Light Dance Company (SLDC) was pleased to participate in this year’s Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education Conference presenting a new show "Phoenix Rising." You are invited to a special public showing of the inspiring show on Sunday April 3rd at 12, 2022, Noon SLT, at the "Theater of Light" at Rockcliffe University.
The theme of the presentation is “inspiration.” How are we inspired to overcome obstacles and to move on to where we want to be? How do we rise, phoenix-like, to abandon the old and to embrace the new? The dancers will confront these questions in several stirring choreographic moments that are capped by a rousing adventure into the meanings of fire and rebirth.
SLDC is one of Second Life’s premier dance organizations, providing a highly original, leading-edge blend of virtual world technology and classic choreography. Created by Caryl Meredith, a classically trained choreographer, the SLDC is a volunteer organization that takes ordinary people and makes them into extraordinary dancers, choreographers, and set designers, all within the unique setting of a social virtual world.
Each year at this time the members of SLDC are given the opportunity to showcase their abilities in a public performance. Some members have created dances before. For others, this is their debut moment. In each case, the choreographers are asked to work on something that they have not tried before.
Only one performance. You won't want to miss it! The scenery is lush. The choreography exquisite. You will find yourself quickly transported into a world where imagination and whimsy are the only realities.
