I am sure many of you have heard of "X Marks the Spot" game, which is the Second Life version of Hollywood Squares or Tic Tac Toe. It is SO MUCH FUN! So! We have decided to have some X Marks the Spot games at Dance Queens! We hope to have different troupes playing each other in this fun, lively game. We invite YOUR TROUPE to play this fun game. You can play as a contestant or on the panel... or both in different games! This is done on voice, so will need participants who can use voice. Please message Pea if you want to have some fun and play this fun game with other troupes. This fosters good relations in the dance community and allows us to network and get to know one another better. We need nine people from one troupe for the panel and two people from other troupes for the contestants. Each game will include three rounds. Spectators are welcome to come watch the silly fun! Kinetics Dance into History!
What a special show it was! Kinetics dance troupe took the Zhaza Zerbino stage on the Dance Queens sim and gave us a spectacular show that was a total must-see. Brilliant performances from some of the most talented virtual dance creators in Second Life, what a grand show it was! And in so doing, Kinetics earned their star in the Dance Queens Walk of Fame. This paver leads into the Dance Queens Info Center and will remain for as long as we have the sim, which we hope will be for a long time. The Walk is of historical significance, remembering the names of the people and troupes who share their imaginative virtual journeys with audiences across the grid. This generosity of spirit is one of the things that bond us as humans and as a community. Below, find pictures from the show, then read and interview with Kinetics and get to know them better. The Interview
1. How and when did your troupe form?
Kinetics Dance was formed in 2021 by a group of passionate
dance enthusiasts who wanted to bring unique, dynamic performances to the
Second Life dance community. What began as a small gathering of dancers, DJ's
and supporters, quickly grew into a cohesive troupe dedicated to pushing
creative boundaries.
2. Where do you usually perform, what is your usual venue?
We typically perform at our theatre on Fantasies Island, as
well as some charitable events over the course of each year. Each venue offers
us an opportunity to adapt our performances and bring something fresh to every
audience.
3. What is your troupe's primary goal in dance?
Our primary goal is to tell stories through movement and to
evoke emotion, whether it’s joy, contemplation, or inspiration. We strive to
connect with our audiences and showcase the versatility of dance as an art
form.
4. What can an audience member expect to see at one of your shows?
Audiences can expect visually stunning performances, innovative choreography, and a mix of styles that highlight the diversity of dance. From intricate solos to breathtaking group pieces, there’s something for everyone.
5. Who owns the troupe and who directs or manages it?
The troupe is run by two of the original founders, with
strong support from our sponsor and our manager. Our leadership focuses on
fostering creativity and collaboration while ensuring the logistical elements
of our performances run smoothly.
6. As a Director or Manager, what is your favorite thing about having a troupe?
It's safe to say the entire troupe enjoys watching ideas
come to life on stage and seeing the joy and amazement on the faces of our
audiences. It’s also incredibly fulfilling to witness the growth and
camaraderie among our dancers.
7. As a Director or Manager, what is your least favorite thing about having a troupe?
Balancing artistic vision with logistical challenges can be tough, and scheduling rehearsals that fit everyone’s availability is often a puzzle. But in the end, it’s always worth it.
8. What directive would you give to someone who wants
to join your troupe?
Be open to learning and growing as a dancer. Bring your creativity and dedication, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone—we love incorporating fresh ideas into our work.
9. What is your favorite food, favorite drink, and
please tell us about any pets that you have.
In our virtual world, our avatars might be seen sipping on fancy cocktails or nibbling on pixel-perfect desserts, but behind the screens, our members are fueled by everything from coffee to energy drinks (and maybe the occasional pizza delivery). As for pets, while we don’t have a “virtual troupe mascot,” many of us have real-life pets who love to supervise our creative sessions—like cats walking on keyboards, or dogs barking during rehearsals.
10. Is there anything else you'd like to add?
We’re incredibly grateful to our audiences, supporters, and fellow dancers. Each performance is a collaboration and a celebration of art, and we’re excited for what the future holds!

Black Pink Earns Their Star
A big CONGRATULATIONS to Black Pink for earning their star in the Dance Queens Walk of Fame! They performed a knockout show on the Zhaza Zerbino stage at the Dance Queens sim, and WOW did their audience enjoy the show. Black Pink is led by SarahRho as Jisoo and performs as a tribute band that sings and dances on detailed sets with special effects, tight choreography and darling costumes. The band includes Mikiko as Jennie, Ginty as Lisa and Janji as Rose, performing as the wildly successful KPop band in creative tribute shows across the grid. particles, lighting, and group dancing, and occasionally single dancing. 5. Who owns the troupe and who directs or manages it? That would be me, Jisoo (SarahRho) the local evil person who
drops things on Gunna's head. 6. As a Director or Manager, what is your favorite
thing about having a troupe? Creativity, without it things would be rather blan. 7. As a Director or Manager, what is your least
favorite thing about having a troupe? A lot the time it takes to do things, time is a very linear
thing but in a lot of things there is never enough of it to spare. 8. What directive would you give to someone who wants
to join your troupe? Be ready for a wild ride, as who knows what i will end up
doing. 9. What is your favorite food, favorite drink, and
please tell us about any pets that you have. No pets, stupid rentals laws and so on, food wise love a
good hot meal with jalapenos or chili, pizza, not a huge eater of takeaway as
home cooking is always better. |

Happy New Year!! As we enter this new season—winter for some of us, summer for others, no change for still others—we can look around our planet with amazement and gratitude for the diversity of its people, cultures, and places. This performance of the Spirit Light Dance Company (SLDC) is focused on how diversity is reflected in our dancing, on the way movement defines who we are, and on the manner in which our deepest spiritual yearnings are revealed.
Join us on January 19, 25, and 26, and prepare to dance your way around the world. The show begins with a tribute to the Tatanka dances of Native Americans; and is followed by dance traditions found in England, Paris, Spain, Ukraine, Morocco, India, Pakistan, Japan, Australia, and Hawaii. Special attention is given to the Gypsy cultures of central and eastern Europe, cultures for which dancing is often a wild and joy-infused passage into the spiritual core of their roving communities. You will hear unusual instruments and unique accented rhythms as you complete this globe-trotting journey; but will be reminded that often there are common invisible movement threads that unify people everywhere in their expressions of joy and sadness, in their celebrations of life, and at those times in which they just “wanna dance”!
SLDC is a Second-Life dance company that brings together the artistic potential of virtual-world technology and the full range of choreographic styles. The result often leaves audience members with an irrepressible desire to tap their feet . . . and even get up and dance. All dances are live and driven in real time by the performers. The SLDC is a company comprised solely of volunteers, including the choreographers, the set designers, the back-office personnel and, of course, the dancers.
Bring your passport and join us on January 19, 25, and 26 for this “World Fest” dance excursion. The venue is the Rockcliffe University auditorium, the time is 12 noon SLT, and the seating is open. Come early to get the best seats! Tapping your toes is up to you!
