Well.. I write "everyone", but i know only a hand full of our DQ Members, read the blog.
That is sad... coz I think we could have much more input, if more people did read.
And that would also make the blog more interesting!!
So climb in your pencil, and start writing!!!
Send us your INFO, interesting stories, ideas... or what else could be interesting, to post on a Dance Queens Blog.
I have been on SL for 8 years.. (OMG)
And I have seen lots of things change.
Most things in a better way. We use les prims, to make things look good, dances and animations got better with the years and creative people made great stuff for us to use.
Clothes are much better then 8 years ago.. we got nicer feet, hands, bodies, hair.. etc etc.
While some things changed, other things stayed the same.
Like... we still need eachother, to make things work.
We can not do things all by ourselves.
Here I think about Events.
We need eachother to make our events work.
We need eachother to form a group... to help eachother with the practical stuff...
We need eachother, to make an audience, coz, what is a show, without audience??
But we also need the shows.
I know at most of you are very busy, to make their shows at their own wonderful venues.
And of course that's great!
What I though miss is... at dancers/groups meet up to show what they can at other events.
Dance Queens advertises often, to get dancers/groups, to earn their star on the "walk of fame"
We have the space (ca 300 prims to use for your stage)
Maybe its not enough for all of you... but we could be creative and make it fit?
At the end, its all about having a great time together and be a good dance community.
We have our weekly "Meet & Greet" every Wednesday 2-4 pm and also there, it would be great if we had shorter shows on stage, during the Meet & Greet".
Maybe just one song.. or two.
The Kittens have their monthly Variety Show, every first Friday of the month, starting at 2.30pm, where they invite to do a 15 min show.
I have been there most of the times and it's a lovely venue with nice people, willing to help you when needed. But its every time again a struggle, to get people on stage for those 15 minutes.
I know at time-zones are a killing one.
But I'm sure it's for many, possible, to make a 10-15 min dance show.
And maybe other venues also would like to have guest performers.
I would love to advertise for that.
We all love dance... Everyone on their own way.
We all do a great job and we all do it, to entertain others.
We all need eachother, one or the other way ;o)
Lets support eachother, in what we do.
We are after all a Community!!
Join us for another evening of smut and giggles brought to you by the lovely ladies of MJ's Burlesque. This adult themed show features monkeys, broken dreams, a small tribute to the late Mr Bowie and a red piano. Please leave the kiddies at home and bring your own bananas.

As a RFL benefit all proceeds will go directly to the charity and the shows were highly appreciated last year, a grand event for people from all over the grid to get together and get their galactic groove on.
This years Scifi Con will be held between the 18th and the 27th of March. (Friday till Sunday)
During this time we are planning to have 5 shows at the following times and days:
Opening day Friday 18th @ 2pm (Opening ceremonies at around noon that day)
Sunday the 20th @ Midnight
Wednesday the 23rd @ noon
Saturday the 26th @ noon
Sunday the 27th @ Midnight ( Closing party right after)
For these shows we have a couple of options on layout, depending on how many interested choreographers and guest performers we have.
We are looking at about 4 MWC acts and between 2-4 guest performers per show.
With the possibility to maby split the shows in 2 teams, 1 night team and one matinée team. (=8 MWC acts and 4-8 guest performers).
A general info meeting for the MWC crew is planned for the 24th of January and a first rehearsal on Feburay 21st. Plenty of time inbetween to get the work done and still have time to play:)
So if you are interested and available, as a dancer, choreographer, host/ess, emcee or Dj, please send Aelva an im or nc about what you want to be involved in and we will get this show on the road:)
ABC Racetrack has invited Elysium Cabaret to perform a champion show featuring some of their most popular acts from the past year. Wednesday, January 27th at 7pm SLT, the Elysiums will take the stage on the ABC racetrack for a very special one-off performance.
Dress up for Race Day if you wish and ladies, if you'd like to get into the spirit of things don't forget to wear a FABULOUS hat! Dressing up and amazing hats are not required, but for those of you who want to have some fun, this will be a blast!
David Bowie will be remembered for his music and style. He blurred gender lines with ultra-glam, over-the-top unisex looks in his "Ziggy Stardust" days! Later he would embrace a sharp, buttoned-up persona that was filled with vibrant colored suits, printed overcoats, and flashy accessories, and ever changing hair styles! In a word... magical!
In remembrance of David Bowie's enduring, badass style, and music that was often imitated but never duplicated, we've put together a collection of acts that we will perform to show our respect for this legendary phenomenon!
Join us for an electrifying night of music, dance and celebrate his music legacy on January 22nd at 10pm!

The Paramount Players will be doing a monthly "after hours" show. We'll bring you the same performance quality we do at our Saturday shows, maybe a little more skin... little less costume. This show is more performance art. We hope to see you there.
We've opened a new Theater Venue, called "Night Players" - it's right close to the Paramount (close enough to walk) but an LM is also included.
What's the diff? You already know what we present at the Paramount; Night Players will have some acts that are similar - but it will also feature acts that are more Avant Grade - acts that stretch our creative wings - - push our boundaries.
Come join us for an evening of classy but sassy entertainment as we the PARAMOUNT GRAND THEATRE, the Paramount dancers dance for you January 9th, 16th & 23rd at 7pm slt, in our new show, Move Your Body.
Dance is a performance art form consisting of purposefully selected sequences of human movement. Dance can be categorized and described by its choreography, by its repertoire of movements, or by its historical period or place of origin. This month, the Paramount Players, move their bodies along with yours in their show all about... body parts!
Here is an interesting video link, albeit detailed, on some in-depth analysis of the 'facial bone' manipulations available with/in the Bento project. While the narrator is reasonaby critical of there 'not being enough' and suggesting there be more bone-translations than just bone-rotations, I was very gaga-eyed over the extent of the number of new bones and very wonderous over what we might see. Bottom line is that it is soooo much more than we have now and leave it to the hands of the super imaginative and creative to really make facial-expressions come to life. As performance-artists, this may bring, more to the forerfront, the importance of a cinematic-close-up offering in order to be able to 'show emotions' at the right times to help deliver more touching performance 'moments'. We might see more audience-scripted camming with more performer-audience-impact. I can forsee a different animation-priority that allows for the easy mating of certain bento-type manipulations such they can work in concert with the current spate of full-bodied dance/AO/static-pose animations without conflicting. That would be nice. Then if we could play facial animations with non-facial animations...ok i know...I'm just dreaming. I think it may help performing artists mentally prepare for what may be coming and possibly begin to rethink how they approach dance and movement-art. Yummy
