It was a pleasure and a privilege to watch as Azdra and Cael dance into history last week when they performed their Walk of Fame on the Zhaza Zerbino stage at the Dance Queens sim. They each performed a mini-show of some of their favorite acts, combining their mini-shows as one presentation. It was fun and exciting to watch their tribute to virtual dance creation. Congratulations, Azzy and Cael! We are so proud of you and greatly appreciate your creative contributions to Second Life dance. Let's take a look at the show, then read their interviews, that we may get to know them better. And check out some pictures from the star-placing ceremony!
THE SHOW
1. How and when did you find Second Life?
I heard about Second Life in 2005 and thought it rather
primitive. Then I returned in 2007 and
stayed after finding things to enjoy.
2. How and when did you discover virtual dance?
After a break taken in 2016, where I returned in 2018 and
looked for new activities. Melli
introduced me to dance and after that I picked up dancing and eventually
started building them in late 2019.
3. I know picking is hard, but name a few of your favorite dances that you have ever created:
1) The Best
2) Mr Blue Sky
3) Someone is watching me
Melli
Queenie
BabyPea
The creativity of it coupled with the technical building in
Second Life.
The recent addition of the launchpad to the Spot On tools.
1) Cranky Sims with Lag
2) Finding new dances
3) Listening to a song
more than 1 billion times
1) Be sure to test
everything you want a dance to do thoroughly so you know it's absolutely well
behaved.
2) Use the Spot On
system with the launchpad - it's automagical!
I ran Candlewyck with Melli, it was an open ended troupe -
Choreos and dancers could come and go at will.
No restrictions on dances. It was
for the fun of dance and less stress. It
worked. Eventually after about 2 years
closed it down to focus on working in other Troupes.
A never ending supply of pets....currently 2 dogs and 1 cat.
10. What activities other than dance do you enjoy?
1) Exploring SL
2) Working with Computer Systems - currently working with
Azure and AWS
11. Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Nah, well maybe, keep your sense of humor about you. If something weird can happen, it does during
dance shows.
Just over 11 years ago, a friend and I were doing text based
RP games and he told me about Second Life.
I came and gave it a try and enjoyed it.
Around 8 years ago, I was invited to a show. Loved it and got involved as a dancer. From there went into choreography and love
every minute of it.
Adiemus was my first and it's still one of my favorite. Besides that, I'd have to say a few of the
newer ones...Can you see me in the dark, Numb Life.
I started learning from Path Campbell and Ariel
Arrowmint. Also learned from Adam
Magic. Most recently BabyPea.
Being able to see the depths of my mind on stage.
6. What is your least favorite thing about virtual dance creation?
Texturing. Flickers
are my nemesis.
7. What advice would you give to someone who is new to virtual dance?
Ask questions. There
are a lot of us who love to help.
Don't anymore but had Ravenswood for a few years.
9. What is your favorite food, favorite drink, and please tell us about any pets that you have.
Love pizza and ice cream, sweet tea is my go to drink
Got 3 monster cats....love them to death
Beating Cael at Greedy, exploration and creation
11. Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Dance is for all of us.
It's not something that's contained.
It spills forth and can be a good outlet for stress.
